A subtle, understated revolution of an album and one of the best of the late 1970s but totally detached from the musical context of the time. Very influential on post-punk, 1980s rock, new wave and more it is without doubt a guitar rock album but comprised entirely of tense garage rockers that spiral into heady intellectual territory which is achieved through the group's long, interweaving instrumental sections.
