The Doors second album can be considered as a continuity of the first album but it offers more innovative studio work as well as new elements. It is a more trippy, ethereal experience and a piece of excellent and moody psychedelia. The essence of the Doors' dark and sensual reputation is here at its peak. The songs play upon themes of angst, alienation and even outright hostility and Morrison is as soulful and poetic as he had ever been. A must hear record.
