Mixing trippy melodies, ornate choruses, lush Mellotron sounds with a solid hard rock base this album is a timeless and beautifully produced work of charming, laid back, sonically colorful and lyrically reflective songs that sound as though they blend into each other, although each song is completely separate, leading the album to really work best as a whole. The songs are personal yet universal and amongst other themes deal with loneliness, memories of past loves, the horrors and ravages of war and covert sexual enticement. One of the best albums of the 1960s.
